Sherrie Knipe, sculptor, was born at the Gold Coast, Queensland, in She studied at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, completing a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Art) from to and a Graduate Diploma of Education in Secondary Teaching (Art and English) in She attained a Masters of Fine Art (Sculpture) in and an Honorary Research Fellowship from to at Monash University, Melbourne.

Sherrie Knipe&#;s intricately carved wood and bronze sculptures are like quirky, three-dimensional jigsaw puzzles made up of ‘useful’ objects that she manipulates and rejuvenates into the seemingly ‘useless’.

Often involving a distortion of scale, the puzzle pieces range from ordinary household items such as crockery, pegs or buttons, to tiny pieces of nature such as leaves, twigs or fish.
